Australian Medical Research Advisory Board
The Australian Government is supporting the Australian Medical Research Advisory Board to oversee the direction of the National Health and Medical Industry Growth Plan.
What we’re funding
$20 million over 4 years to support the Australian Medical Research Advisory Board (AMRAB). AMRAB will be led by Professor Ian Frazer AC and will oversee the direction of the $1.3 billion National Health and Medical Industry Growth Plan (the Growth Plan).
AMRAB will guide the establishment and implementation of the Growth Plan. This includes the 10 year $500 million Genomics Health Futures Mission and the $240 million Frontier Health and Medical Research program.
AMRAB, as the Government’s primary source of independent advice on the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF), will oversee the Plan by working with key stakeholders. This includes the Australian Government’s medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceutical growth centre, MTPConnect and Innovation Science Australia.
Why it’s important
- Identifying discoveries and translating ideas into practice and commercial success are key priorities of the Plan.
- AMRAB has the expertise to ensure the Plan delivers and ensure Australia remains as a world leader in health and medical research.
