Industry Researcher Exchange and Training
The Australian Government is supporting researchers to work with industry to improve career opportunities and support researchers to remain in the sector.
What we’re funding
$32 million will be invested over 4 years to bring industry and academia together.
The purpose of this research funding is to:
- improve the career progression of early to mid-career researchers
- enhance the entrepreneurialism and the commercialisation skills of researchers
- support researchers to remain in the sector.
This program will benefit career progression and increase focus on end-user needs, entrepreneurialism and the commercialisation of research.
Why it’s important
- Results from a 2016 national survey show that 83% of researchers considered leaving for another career, with the majority being mid-career researchers. This loss would significantly impact on Australia’s research knowledge and skills base.
