Goulburn Valley to receive $1.4 million clinical training hub
The Australian Government will invest $1.4 million in funding for an Integrated Clinical Training Hub aimed at upskilling medical practitioners and improving services.

The Liberal National Government will invest $1.4 million in funding for an Integrated Clinical Training Hub aimed at upskilling medical practitioners and improving services.
Government funding will assist the hub cater specifically for General Practitioners (including procedural, registrar, and intern) education, as well as integrating improved capacity for Nursing, Allied Health and Support Staff training and development.
The project will take an estimated 12 months to complete and will be developed in conjunction with the planned redevelopment for the Kyabram Medical Clinic which has also received $300,000 in funding.
Minister for Health, Greg Hunt said Government funding will help to facilitate the recruitment, growth and development of the medical workforce in the region.
“Providing greater training and support to our medical industry is crucial in building a world class health system,” Minister Hunt said.
“The redevelopment will expand current facilities and provide a better experience for both patient and clinician.”
Additionally, funding will further support upgrades that will enhance the permanent house and visiting services to the Campaspe Shire Maternal and Child Health Service, Kyabram Regional Medical Clinic, and the Kyabram, Rochester and Elmore District Health Services.
The program will develop patient care while reducing pressure on community and hospital services in four key areas:
- Specialist hospital services (such as cancer treatment, rural health and hospitalinfrastructure)
- drug and alcohol treatment, preventive, primary and chronic disease management and;
- mental health.
Federal Member for Murray, Damian Drum was thrilled with the Governments investment and said it was fantastic be able to help facilitate continued growth in health services in the region.
“Making more services available locally enhances health outcomes for those living in our electorate, and removes the need for those living in the Goulburn Valley to travel long distances to receive specialised care,” Mr Drum said.
“Funding for this program comes from the Community Health and Hospitals Program, which funds projects and services in every state and territory.”
The Government’s strong economic management ensures the continued record investment into vital health initiatives including mental health, life-saving medicines, Medicare and hospitals.
