The focus of the National Immunisation Strategy for Australia 2013 to 2018 is the National Immunisation Program (NIP). The NIP provides essential vaccines to eligible infants, children, adolescents and adults free of charge.
Australia has a strong and internationally recognised NIP, with a national average of over 90% coverage for most childhood vaccines. Australia’s achievements in immunisation also meet international goals set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Strategy articulates eight strategic priority areas for action to maintain the successful delivery of the NIP, address current issues and further improve national immunisation and vaccine delivery.
