Following an increase in febrile convulsions associated with influenza vaccine in children in 2010, Professor John Horvath AO was commissioned by the Australian Government to conduct an independent review of the national response to the reported adverse events following immunisation (AEFI).

The review identified seven recommendations for ways in which to improve the current vaccine safety monitoring system in Australia.

The Government accepted all recommendations of the Horvath Review and agreed to a two year timeframe for implementation. This report provides an overview on the implementation of the recommendations of the Horvath Review and identifies further work to be progressed.
